How ai-de.net collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our platform. Plain-English summary at the top of each section.

01Introduction

ai-de.net ("we", "our", or "us"), a product of DIMENSIONS PARTNERSHIP CONSULTING LLC, operates the ai-de.net platform — production data engineering and AI systems training. We're committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information.

02What we collect

Information you provide

When you create an account, complete lessons, or contact us:

  • Name, email address, and password (hashed with bcrypt)
  • Profile information you choose to add — bio, handle, pronouns, location, social links
  • Payment information — processed by Stripe; we store only the last 4 digits + expiration of your card
  • Communications you send us (support requests, mentor messages, community posts)

Information collected automatically

  • Learning progress — which lessons you've completed, project submissions, XP, streaks
  • Code submissions and project work (so mentors can review them)
  • Device + browser info — user-agent, OS, screen size, language preference
  • IP address — used for geolocation (city-level only) and security event detection
  • Usage events — page views, clicks, scroll depth (for product analytics)

Information from third parties

  • If you sign in with GitHub / Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo
  • If you connect Discord / Slack / Linear, we receive your handle + display name (never your message content)

03How we use it

We use your data only for what's necessary to operate the platform and improve it:

  • Provide the service — render the dashboard, route mentor reviews, deliver email notifications
  • Personalize your learning — recommend next skills, track your career path progress, surface relevant projects
  • Process payments — handled by Stripe under their privacy policy
  • Communicate — transactional email (receipts, password resets, review-ready alerts) and optional digests you've opted into
  • Improve the product — aggregate analytics on which lessons help learners progress; we never re-identify individuals from this
  • Detect abuse — rate-limit login attempts, flag suspicious activity, prevent account takeover
  • Comply with legal obligations — tax records, court orders, regulatory requests

We do not sell your data. We do not use your code submissions to train LLMs. We do not share your profile with recruiters unless you opt in.

04Sharing & sub-processors

We share data only with sub-processors who help us run the platform. Each one is bound by a Data Processing Agreement:

StripePayment processing. Receives card details, billing address, transaction amounts.
AWS · CloudflareHosting + CDN. Stores all platform data; encrypted at rest with AES-256.
Postmark · ResendTransactional email delivery. Receives your email + message content.
PostHogProduct analytics. Self-hosted; receives anonymized event data only.
SentryError monitoring. May incidentally capture user-agent and a stack trace when a page errors.

A full, machine-readable list of sub-processors is maintained at aide.net/legal/subprocessors and updated within 7 days of any change. You can subscribe to its RSS feed for notification.

05Your rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws, you have the following rights. Most are self-serve in Settings → Data & Export.

Right to AccessRequest a copy of all personal data we hold about you. Self-serve in Settings; typically delivered within 5 minutes.
Right to RectificationCorrect inaccurate or incomplete personal data. Most fields are editable in Settings.
Right to ErasurePermanently delete your account. 30-day grace period; data is purged after.
Right to Data PortabilityExport your data in a machine-readable (JSON) format.
Right to ObjectObject to processing — e.g. opt out of product analytics. Email us at aidelearning@proton.me.
Right to RestrictPause certain processing while disputes are resolved.

06Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

  • TLS 1.3 in transit; AES-256 at rest
  • 2FA available to all users; passkeys (WebAuthn) supported
  • Quarterly key rotation for KMS-encrypted OAuth tokens and webhook secrets
  • Annual SOC 2 Type II audit (report available under NDA)
  • Mandatory employee security training; principle of least privilege on production access

No system is 100% secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you within 72 hours.

07Cookies & tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform and understand how it's used. You can manage preferences in your browser or via our cookie banner.

Session, auth, CSRF tokens, security headers. Required for the platform to function — these cannot be disabled.

Analytics
Privacy-respecting product analytics (page views, scroll depth, lesson completion rates). IP addresses are hashed before storage.

Preferences like theme, code-block syntax theme, and last-active lesson — improves the experience but is not required.

08Children's privacy

ai-de.net is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

09International data transfers

Our primary data centers are in the EU (eu-west-1) and US (us-east-1). If you use ai-de.net from outside these regions, your data may be transferred. We rely on:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for EU → non-EU transfers
  • Adequacy decisions where applicable (UK, Switzerland)
  • EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification for U.S. sub-processors

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when we change practices or sub-processors. Material changes will be:

  • Announced in-app via a banner for 14 days before they take effect
  • Emailed to all active users at least 14 days before the effective date
  • Listed in a public changelog at aide.net/legal/changelog
